BEAT is an 18-week Programme, commissioned by the City of London, for inner city London girls aged between 14 and 17.

The programme focusses on four key areas: business, education, active and transform to create a legacy for the girls who participate.

Using rugby and inspiring and captivating guest speakers, the programme provides the girls with an opportunity to grow and develop in all areas of their lives. The end goal is to provide an avenue for these girls and young adults into further education and business having used rugby to facilitate this.

Over the course of the 18 weeks, the girls receive presentations from experts and professionals in the business and education fields covering a broad array of topics. Further to this, they receive expert coaching from our Foundation staff to engage and encourage healthy lifestyles through rugby.

Working with schools in north London, the girls from COLA Highgate Hill, COLA Islington and COLA Highbury Grove bring selected girls to the programme each week. As a diverse and inclusive project, there is an emphasis on team building and social integration.

In 2019 the participants met and were presented by, role models such as Rochelle Clark MBE (most capped England women's rugby player), Angela Brady OBE, Architect and a former President of RIBA, spent a full day with the Royal Navy looking at career paths for young women and an exciting visit to Facebook’s London headquarters.
