Executive Statement

The London Irish Foundation exists to create lasting positive change for our community, environment, and stakeholders. This policy integrates the best of Sport England’s *Every Move* strategy, the *Code for Sports Governance*, B Lab’s B Corp Certification requirements, BASIS frameworks, and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. It defines how we measure, manage, and multiply our impact.

 

  1. Purpose, Scope, and Principles

This policy applies to all staff, trustees, volunteers, delivery partners, and programme participants. We commit to:

- Balancing the needs of all stakeholders in every decision (Mission Lock).

- Aligning with Sport England, B Corp, BASIS, and GRI requirements.

- Embedding sustainability, inclusion, and transparency into all operations.

 

  1. Governance and Ethical Leadership

- Board accountability through an appointed Welfare and Safety Lead Director.

- Annual governance review with independent input.

- Board skills and diversity matrix maintained and updated yearly.

- Stakeholder engagement integrated into decision-making processes.

 

  1. Environmental Sustainability

- 50% operational carbon reduction by 2030, Net Zero by 2040.

- Environmental Sustainability Action Plan by March 2027.

- Supplier Environmental and Ethical Code compliance.

- BASIS-aligned sustainable travel, facility, and event standards.

- Climate resilience measures embedded in all facilities and programmes.

 

  1. Social Value, Inclusion, and Community

- Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan is published annually with measurable targets.

- Co-designed programmes with communities, schools, and stakeholders.

- Free or subsidised programmes for under-represented groups.

- Quantifiable wellbeing and participation outcomes.

 

  1. Workers: Welfare, Development, and Engagement

- Annual People Plan for workforce wellbeing, training, and development.

- Living Wage accreditation target.

- Flexible working arrangements.

- Opportunities for employee governance participation.

 

  1. Ethical Supply Chain

- Supplier Code of Conduct covering environmental, social, and labour practices.

- Biennial supplier audits.

- Preference for verified sustainable suppliers.

 

  1. Customer and Beneficiary Stewardship

- Ethical marketing and communications.

- Data protection beyond GDPR requirements.

- Annual beneficiary feedback integrated into design.

 

  1. Measurement, Reporting, and Accountability

- Annual Impact Report aligned with Sport England, B Lab, BASIS, and GRI.

- Reporting against GRI 302 (Energy), 305 (Emissions), 403 (Health & Safety), 405 (Diversity).

- GRI Content Index published.

- Independent assurance of key indicators where feasible.

- Leadership performance linked to impact targets.

 

  1. Continuous Improvement and Review

- Monthly review of this policy to integrate emerging best practices and learning.

- Engagement with BASIS benchmarking and GRI updates.
