2024 Spring VRU creates engagement with young women and girls from targeted schools throughout our community
London Irish Foundation were awarded a grant to deliver the Mayor of London - VRU programme.
In 2024 we are looking to engage with young women and girls from targeted schools throughout our community.
The programme restarted this week with the first group visiting Hazelwood on Tuesday 16th January 2024, followed by a session at Grasshoppers RFC on the Wednesday 17th, and Thursday 18th at the Grey Coat Hospital.
This part of the campaign has embarked on another 10-week organised programme, across 5-Boroughs in the Capital with Magna Carta School, Sunbury Manor, Lampton School, Green School for Girls, Drayton Park Manor High, Grey Coat Hospital and King Solomon Academy involved in our Spring adventure.
As a Foundation we strive to make a difference to all our students and alongside our rugby sessions, team work and leadership, we aim is to offer participants the opportunity to look at career(s) with an open view to what might "help them" in their future pathway.
The VRU work plan is divided into five key priority areas:
1. Youth Work
2. Education, Schools and Settings
3. Early Intervention and Whole Family
4. Neighbourhood - Community & Local violence reduction plans
5. Young People – giving them their voice
