London Irish Foundation Spreads Christmas Joy to Children in Need

The magic of Christmas arrived early this year, thanks to the London Irish Foundation, as they kicked off their annual Christmas gift delivery on Monday, 9th December 2024. With festive cheer in their hearts and over 600 lovingly wrapped presents in tow, the Foundation began spreading joy across the community, delivering gifts to local charities, hospitals, and hospices.

The team’s first stop was First Days Children’s Charity in Wokingham, where their contribution supported the charity’s 2024 Christmas appeal. On a frosty Monday morning, the Foundation’s donation of over 200 gifts brought warmth and gratitude to First Days staff. “Christmas is such a special time for all,” said one team member, “and we hope these presents will ensure that children wake up on Christmas morning with something magical waiting at the end of their beds.”

This year, the gifts were wrapped with enthusiasm and care by the Foundation’s Beat the Street group, who meet at Hazelwood weekly, and students from Bishop Wand School’s ACE programme. Their efforts added a personal touch to the presents, ensuring every child felt the love and thoughtfulness behind the gesture.

The festive mission didn’t end there. The Foundation team dedicated a second delivery day to visiting some of the most deserving recipients in the community. Visits included the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice in Hampton, the Children’s Ward at Frimley Park Hospital in Berkshire, and the Children’s Ward at Wexham Hospital in Slough. At each location, the team was met with smiles, gratitude, and the knowledge that their efforts would bring a little light to children and families facing challenging times this Christmas.

Andy Keast, Chief Executive of the London Irish Foundation, praised the efforts of everyone involved. “I would like to thank our small but mighty team, Rhys and Wayne, for their hard work in collecting, organising, and delivering the gifts, as well as our amazing volunteers for their help with wrapping. Their enthusiasm has been incredible, and I hope these gifts will spread some much-needed joy to children in our community this Christmas.”

The campaign was made possible by the Foundation’s Secret Santa we are ever grateful. These donations highlight the power of community spirit and the importance of looking out for one another, especially during the festive season.

The London Irish Foundation’s annual gift-giving campaign has become a cherished tradition, embodying the true meaning of Christmas: kindness, generosity, and hope. As they continue their mission of supporting the community, the Foundation sends their heartfelt wishes for a Happy Christmas to all.
