London Irish Foundation Statement

In April 2026, the London Irish Foundation enters a period of dormancy, marking not an end, but a pause in a journey defined by generosity, resilience, and lasting community impact.

Granted registered charity status in 2019 with a bold vision to “harness the power of sport to make an impact on the lives of the communities it served,” the Foundation quickly became far more than a charitable arm of a rugby club. It grew into a vital community lifeline. In just a few short years, it engaged over 100,000 participants, delivered more than 200,000 hours of activity, and hosted over 7,000 sessions, transforming lives across London and the Southeast.

The Foundation championed inclusion not as a slogan, but as a daily practice empowering young women through targeted programmes, delivering tailored support in SEND schools, and creating welcoming “home-from-home” environments where every individual felt valued.

Its work endured extraordinary challenges, from the COVID-19 pandemic to ongoing funding pressures, amid the wider uncertainty following London Irish Holdings Limited's entry into administration in June 2023. Through it all, the Foundation remained committed to building brighter, fairer futures.

As it enters this period of dormancy, the Foundation does so with pride in what has been achieved and optimism for what may come next. The impact will continue to strengthen communities, and we remain hopeful that, over time, the Foundation’s work can be reignited and its mission carried forward.

Commenting on the transition, Andy Keast, Chief Executive of the Foundation, said: “As we enter this period of dormancy for the London Irish Foundation, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the dedicated staff, both previous and current, trustees, volunteers, supporters and participants who have been at the heart of our journey. “Together, we have created something truly meaningful, delivering opportunities, inspiring change, and making a lasting difference in the communities we serve. “While this is a moment to reflect, it is also one to look ahead with hope. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved and deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this work. The Foundation’s legacy will endure through the lives it has touched, and I believe there is a strong foundation for future renewal.”

Topsy Ojo, Chair of Trustees for the Foundation, said: “To the Board of Trustees, employees, volunteers and everyone who has supported the Foundation, I’d like to thank you for everything you’ve done throughout our journey, but particularly over the last 3 years, where the Foundation continued to do some incredible work in the most testing of circumstances. “Special mention goes to Andy, Wayne, and Rhys for everything that they have done to ensure that not only has the Foundation continued to make a lasting impact, but it is also ready to return to continue that work in due course. Hopefully that day isn’t too far away, and work will continue in the background to help make that happen.”
